Welcome to the American Foundation of Counseling Services!
The American Foundation of Counseling Services has provided counseling and consultation to the community since 1965. We also have had a long history of providing care to clergy and congregations throughout Northeastern Wisconsin. We strive to provide the highest quality services to all individuals, regardless of their insurance coverage or ability to pay. Additionally, we are attentive to spiritual dynamics and we will work to assist clients in integrating their faith into the healing process. All of our therapists are state-licensed and from a wide-range of experiences. The American Foundation of Counseling Services Treatment Foster Care program has been a state-licensed child placing agency since 1999. We provide intensive out of home placement for kids that have been victims of abuse or neglect or for kids with delinquency issues. Our therapists and case managers work in each foster home to provide consultation and support to the foster families, schools, and other community providers, ensuring that the children placed quickly achieve a level of stability within the foster home and community. After making progress in our program, most children transition back to their family of origin or into an independent living setting. Learn more about Treatment Foster Care.
The American Foundation of Counseling Services was established in 1965 by George Kress and Norman Vincent Peale with the original goal of providing training and counseling education to clergy and congregations in Northeastern Wisconsin. We continue that tradition today working closely with the faith community in the area by providing Pastor Leadership Groups, Premarital Counseling Workshops, Marriage Enrichment Seminars, and individual consultation to clergy and church leadership teams. H1N1
Beginning this past spring we’ve heard many reports of the H1N1 virus. No one knows how hard the flu will hit but we do know there are things we can all do to reduce the chances of becoming infected.
At AFCS we support our clients by focusing on mind, body and spirit, treating all aspects of your life. As part of our mission, AFCS is offering clients, when they visit, information on the H1N1 virus, providing helpful hints for slowing/stopping the spread of the virus and providing hand sanitizer and masks to help you feel more comfortable.
If you have any of the following symptoms, AFCS encourages you to think about your own situation and determine if you should attend your session or consider calling and cancelling:
- Abnormally pale and having difficulty in comfortably carrying out normal activities
- Sweaty in cooler temperature and/or have a temperature that is 100 degrees or higher
Thank you for your consideration and cooperation in dealing with the H1N1 virus. We realize this isn’t an enjoyable subject, however by using caution and safe health practices we can help keep the H1N1 virus or any flu from spreading.
