The American Foundation of Counseling Services has filled the service gap in our community by offering a sliding fee for clients without health insurance. Additionally, we are one of the few agencies in the area that accepts state-sponsored health insurance (Medical Assistance, Badgercare, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.), even when the reimbursement rate of these programs does not cover our expenses.
We are able to operate below our expense threshold because of the generous donations and support from our community. Last year, over 375 under-insured families were provided with state-of-the-art mental health services. We provide outreach to the local homeless shelter, a local shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children, and we care for the chronically mentally ill throughout the area.
