About the Awards

The American Foundation of Counseling Services founded and hosts the Ethics in Business Awards for three reasons:

Your participation in these awards is a witness to the commitment we all share for the extension of positive values in our community.

How will the winners be determined?

The Ethics in Business Awards will not only be a coveted prize for Northeast Wisconsin Business and Individuals, but they also serve as valuable learning tools for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) at the University of Green Bay.

Students at the University will play an instrumental role in the selection process of the honorees, making this awards program different from others. SIFE students will be responsible for conducting research on the Ethics Awards nominees. Professor John R. Stoll, a co-founder of SIFE at UW-Green Bay, will be the faculty advisor. Students will conduct interviews on the company’s practices with everyone from the CEO to line employees, as well as partners, suppliers and customers. Students will also conduct secondary research through public records, computer data resources and media coverage. They will then write a factual assessment and a personal evaluation of the nominee.

A panel of judges comprised of local business and civic leaders, will base their final selections on the written reports of the SIFE students.
