Cindy Bartel, LCSW
Cindy Bartel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and earned her MSW from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. Her bachelor's degree is in Human Development from UWGB. She has worked at the American Foundation for 16 years as a therapist and at the Crisis Center as a crisis counselor before that. Cindy specializes in working with people who have experienced incidents of trauma. This includes physical, sexual or emotional abuse, accidents, injuries or any life threatening event. She has completed Level 11 training of EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). She also works with people who have anxiety or depression.
Cindy's beliefs are consistent with the American Foundation's value of healing the mind, body and spirit. She likes to create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort to encourage healing to happen.
Shawn Blakley, MSE, LPC, CSAC
Shawn Blakley has a master’s degree in Community Counseling, and is state licensed as a Mental Health Counselor. He specializes in addictions and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III, and has taken extra course work in gambling addictions. He has been in practice for 15 years, and is a strong believer that healing and good mental health involves the balance of mind, body and spirit. Much of his work besides addictions involves depression, anger management, anxieties, working with adolescents and marital / couples counseling.
Marilyn Brennan, LCSW
Marilyn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters degree from the University of Milwaukee-WI. She has more than 25 years of experience working in the counseling field. She enjoys working with parents and their children, specializing in issues related to ADHD, anxiety and depression. She also has training in helping children and young adults with autistic spectrum disorders. Marilyn facilitates a social skills/self-esteem group for children. She is married with 3 children, and 3 grandchildren.
Bob Johnson, LCSW
Whether helping a couple renew the commitment and intimacy in their marriage, individuals wrestle control of their lives away from the grips of depression and anxiety, assist adolescent and adult men deal with issues of attention deficit disorder, or alcohol and drug abuse, or enable a Pastor to develop strategies to reduce conflicts in his congregation, Bob believes that change and growth are possible, and at the same time makes us feel clumsy and uncomfortable, and demands persistence. He also believes that for change and growth to occur you have to focus on your whole life, integrating your mental, physical and spirit health.
Bob is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. He is a Certified Clergy Coach, and has significant training and experience in clergy, congregational and denominational consultation. He also holds a state certificate in divorce mediation. Bob has worked in the Behavioral Health and Consultation field for over 20 years. He is married and has five children.
Jill Krejcie, LMFT
Jill Krejcie is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist and earned her Master’s Degree from University of Minnesota School of Psychology at Argosy University. She has experience with children, adolescents and their families working to improve behavioral issues, parenting techniques, and increasing overall cohesion. Her experience consists of working with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, grief and loss, and GLBTQ issues. She is an approved Prepare/Enrich counselor assisting pre-marital and marital couples in enhancing their commitment to marriage. Jill utilizes a multi-modal approach including collaborative, solution-focused, relational approach to the process of change.
Jill is currently working as the Mental-health Outreach Resource Expansion Program (MORE) therapist providing mental health services to the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and disenfranchised individuals.
Loretta M. Larkey, LCSW
Loretta Larkey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her undergraduate social work degree (BSW) from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay (UWGB) and her Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Loretta has 20 years of experience happily working in the Profession of Social Work in a variety of settings including hospital social work, primarily with cancer patients and their families, work with adolescents in residential treatment and their families, providing mental/behavioral health services in a clinical setting to individuals (ages 12 to 99), families and couples. She describes her clinical approach as cognitive behavioral, strengths-based solution-focused, and also employs a family systems approach. Loretta retired from full-time teaching in the Social Work Professional Program at UWGB and returned to her roots as a counselor/psychotherapist at American Foundation. Loretta is married and has four adult sons.
Some areas of specialization include: issues of concern and importance to women, relationship enhancement, depression, anxiety, improved family relationships, effectively coping with serious and terminal illnesses, and issues of importance to members of the gay and lesbian population and their families.
Loretta is committed to respectfully honoring the life stories of her clients as they work together to discover effective solutions to life’s challenges.
Kim Marohl, LPC
Kim is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Community Counseling. She has experience with children, adolescents, and families supporting positive change related to depression, self-esteem, behavior problems, anger management, anxiety, trauma, stress, grief and loss, improved communication, and parent-child conflict. She has training in DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) and emotion regulation. Kim especially enjoys working with adolescents to help with their life challenges. She uses both person centered and cognitive behavioral approaches to create change and help people to reach their therapeutic goals. Kim is married and has one daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family and doing a variety of crafty things.
Bill Mathias, MSSW, MTS, LCSW
A counselor since 1986, Bill is a problem solver, educator, and personal consultant. He uses experience derived from a variety of work settings (medical, corporate, educational and clinical). Bill’s work mostly involves stress management, life transitions, work situations, relationships, depression/anxiety, spirituality and male development. Bill earned a master’s degree in Social Work from UW-Madison (MSSW), is licensed by the state of Wisconsin as a helping professional (LCSW) and has his Master’s in Theological Studies (MTS). When not in the office he enjoys the outdoors, volunteering, and time with his spouse.
Kathy Mayer, MSE, LPC
Kathy is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 15 years experience working with families, children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, including: in-home, crisis center, group home and outpatient. Kathy specializes in the areas of abuse, grief/loss issues, relationship issues, self-esteem and personal growth, anxiety and stress, depression, parent/child issues and divorce/blended family issues. Kathy is trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). Kathy strives to provide an atmosphere for cultivating a trusting and supportive relationship with individuals and to promote healing and well-being, along with enhancing personal growth and development through mind, body and spirit.
Chris Nelson, PhD
Chris is a Licensed Psychologist. She has been working as a psychologist for 13 years. Chris provides psychological testing and counseling services. Psychological testing services are available for children, adolescents and adults. Testing is provided to evaluate mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, learning disorders, behavior problems and personality functioning. Chris also provides counseling services and has a particular interest in helping people with relationship issues, depression (including post partum depression), and anxiety (including worry, panic attacks and social phobia). Chris has been married since 1992 and has 3 school aged children.
Elaine Schoeni, MSW, LCSW
Elaine Schoeni is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Elaine had previously worked in the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) field prior to joining AFCS. Additional counseling background includes inpatient treatment for children and adolescents and crisis counseling at the Crisis Center. Through these settings, she has worked with a wide variety of issues but mostly works with couples and individuals with depression, anxiety, stress, loss and change, work issues, and relationship concerns. Elaine utilizes a problem-solving approach and cognitive behavioral methods. She believes in utilizing the strengths inherent in everyone to help people move forward in their lives.
Amy B. Skiver, LPC, BCPC
Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience in a variety of mental health settings. She works with children, adolescents and adults. Her areas of practice include parent-child conflict, parenting strategies, relationship challenges, life stressors, anxiety, depression, health issues, mindfulness, personal empowerment and spiritual growth. Amy utilizes a combination of holistic, cognitive-behavioral, strength-based, solution focused and family systems approaches. Amy is married with one son. She continues to study Ayurveda, “The Science of Life,” to one day bring it into a practice of its own. She believes to strengthen one’s self, you must find a balance among your spirit, mind and body.
Steve Wille, LPC, NCC
Steve Wille is a state licensed and nationally certified counselor who earned his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Marquette University. Steve’s counseling expertise includes the populations of children, adolescents, and young adults, with specialties in non-traditional families and college counseling. He has experience and education working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavior disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, social skills, anger and stress management. Steve is looking to further specialize in aiding clients with eating disorders and creating a comprehensive counseling program for parents and children in adoptive families.
Steve prefers a cognitive-behavioral, solution-based therapy method that utilizes an individual’s strengths. He believes that there are multiple pathways to mental health that include physical well-being, education and spirituality. Currently an outpatient therapist, he has previously worked as an in-home counselor and a high school teacher. He also spent five years coaching cross country and track and field at the high school and university level. Steve is married and has a young son. In his spare time, he enjoys film, baseball and running.
